BACKGROUND;

KAWS’ “What Party..” exhibition opened to blockbuster reviews and record setting attendance in February 2020.

Though the exhibition was temporarily shut down multiple times due to the global pandemic. It was, without doubt, KAWS’ most successful exhibition to date.

With the exhibit came a new set of figures.. KAWS’ “WHAT PARTY..” figures.

A new take on his original chum — instead of a pushed out chest and an exalted stance, Chum stood slouched, unsure of himself or the circumstances surrounding him.

One could say, if there was an art exhibit, or for that matter, an artist whose work symbolized the world’s thoughts and feelings as a collective from 2020-2022 it would be KAWS and his “WHAT PARTY..” exhibit.

A time that will be forever etched in our collective subconscious for many years to come.
