The exhibition publicly displayed the anonymous artist’s canvas works for the first time.
”Into the White Cube” also marked 20 years since the anonymous street artist had a show in a museum or gallery.
”Into the White Cube” showcased the artist’s signature 8-bit tile mosaics of video game characters and other notable characters in pop culture.
The exhibit was a phenomenal success, played a major role in bringing Invader back into the collective subconscious of the contemporary and street art world.
It was on the occasion of ”Into the White Cube” INVADER released a series of three embossed screen prints; ”Sunrays” , ”Hollyweed” and ”Versailles” .
These works were notable due to the fact that the images were ones the artist had consistently included in his repertoire of various mosaics he had spent the previous two decades placing across Europe and North America.
The works immediately became amongst the artist’s most sought after screen prints; from a small edition of 100 each, embossed and of course hand signed and numbered by the artist (with his blind stamp).
This specific work ”Versailles” (Blue Variant), the title a nod to King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, shows a Baroque style mirror, with the artist’s signature INVADER situated atop the mirror.
The work is of course, embossed and is as iconic an INVADER work as it gets.
