Hewlett is a multifaceted artist; in the late 1980s Hewlett created one of the most iconic personas to ever grace the pages of a comic book; ”Tank Girl” was revolutionary, the characters appeal was seemingly infinite.
The character brought Hewlett world wide success, recognition and acclaim.
His band “Gorillaz” burst onto the scene in the mid 2000s, the band’s freshman release ”Demon Days” was an instant international success, certified platinum many times over.
”Gorillaz” went on to become one of the most acclaimed bands of the 21st century.
Over the past 35 years Hewlett has never strayed from his roots as a visual artist.
As part of the original roster of Banksy’s iconic print house and publisher “Pictures on Walls” Hewlett’s editions were some of the most relevant and successful releases from the now legendary publisher.
His Pictures on Walls releases continue to fetch large sums and are extremely sought after amongst his collectors.

”This is the earliest image amongst the Warriors, with the original drawing dating from 1996.
In a pre-digital age it was created on paper, sent to the printers but never came back, so in 2023 Hewlett remade the artwork.
”Tank Girl” was the artist's breakthrough moment and ignited the imagination of a whole generation by presenting the first exciting woman-led comic.
”Tank Girl” is anarchic, out of control and happy to meet our gaze head-on, even as she sits on the toilet.
