This work is a prime example of any Richard Hambleton work; A haunting chaos and sense of foreboding envelopes the work.

Yet amongst all of the chaos (in his work and in his personal life) Hambleton was a master of dancing ”The delicate dance” between life and death, genius and insanity, composure and decomposure.

Perhaps that is what compels people to Hambleton’s work; forty plus years after his work appeared in metropolitan areas across the nation and nearly eight years since his death; Hambleton constantly draws comparisons between many of the greatest artist’s of our time; Jean Michel Basquiat , Keith Haring , Andy Warhol etc.

One can only ponder; if Hambleton would have met a similar fate, thirty years prior, would his prints be tens of thousands? possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars ? As are the works of his aforementioned contemporaries?

These works were completed shortly after Hambeton died in 2017.

Numbered from the small edition of 100, Hambleton’s signature as a blind stamp; this is simply an incredible work at this or a much higher price point.

Many critics have commented through the decades that being in the presence of a Hambleton work is like nothing else; that the pieces emit brooding perfectionism, almost as if the artist is standing there with the viewer.
