”Positano” is the newest edition from Seth Armstrong.

Armstrong is undoubtedly one of the most promising contemporary artists to breakthrough to the mainstream over the past decade.

While the artist is multi disciplined, he chooses to focus on landscape as well as cityscape work(s); taking his inspiration from the land and cityscapes he grew up amongst in Southern California.

This edition, his first release with publisher Static Medium, is a bit of a departure from the artist’s previous works.

”Positano” is a stunning edition, perhaps the artist’s most striking to date.

While painting hillside landscapes, dotted with small communities is nothing new for Armstrong; Positano shows significant evolution in the young protégés artistry.

”Positano,” a picturesque enclave on the Amalfi Coast is shown with such detail and precision, at first the viewer may mistake the print for a picture taken by a talented photographer with a professional grade DSLR camera; the work leaves the viewer absolutely in awe.

In ”Positano”, Armstrong draws from his usual pallet; various shades of soft Blue(s), Green(s), Orange and Yellow dot the darkened, hillside landscape.

As is always the case , Armstrong’s most striking talent rests on his ability to produce light from
paint; stylistically reminiscent of many of the old masters ( Monet, Manet, Matisse etc ).

When approaching this work it is natural to begin at the top and wind your way down, much like a tourist would while exploring the Amalfi coast.

Once the viewer’s eyes reach the bottom of the work they are greeted by a picture perfect reflection of the stunning commune; which for the last fifty years has been a getaway for the rich and famous.

Keith Richards and Mick Jagger are known to have written songs while on vacation in Positano.

”Under The Tuscan Sun” was notably filmed, on location, in Positano.

While the turmoil and stress(es) of everyday life may keep many from visiting this gorgeous enclave, a unique haven that has a definite dreamlike quality about it.
