”Piranhas While You’re Sleeping” is simply Brian Donnelly (AKA KAWS) at the pinnacle of his career as well as artistry).
The work is a large screenprint (five feet tall and four feet wide); an outline of a Dolphin, within the outline are the the bright, contrasting hues, irregular, contemporary shapes and stylistic trademarks (IE the well known ”KAWS X” ) that makes a work by KAWS strikingly different and immediately recognizable.
”Piranhas” is KAWS’ largest Screenprint.
This work was released over Art Miami Weekend in 2016 by Pace Prints and IMMEDIATELY FALSE out.
”Piranhas” is (arguably) Kaws’ most sought after print (along with ”Isolation Tower” ), another large scale screenprint. ”Piranhas” is nominally larger when compared to ”Isolation Tower” .
This era marked an evolution in ”KAWS” artistry as well as the pinnacle of his notoriety and critical acclaim (it was shortly after this work was released that he began working on the Seeing/Watching installation in China), China’s only permanent art installation.
This is an absolutely iconic, prime example of Brian Donnelly (KAWS) at his best.
