The *Empresses* series represents one of Hirst's most ambitious explorations of his celebrated Kaleidoscope Paintings. Inspired by symmetry, stained glass windows, sacred geometry and the remarkable beauty of butterfly wings, the series elevates these motifs into monumental compositions that blur the line between painting, sculpture and design. *Nür Jahān* is named after the legendary Mughal empress whose intelligence, diplomacy and patronage of the arts helped shape an empire. Layers of brilliant reds, deep blacks and countless butterfly forms create an almost hypnotic mandala that continuously reveals new details the longer one studies it.
