At the start of 2000, Mark Jacobs (then director of Louis Vuitton ) announced a collaboration.

This collaboration would be the first of its kind; a precursor for the next two decades that saw stars from the world(s) of art, fashion, film and music collide constantly.

After the collab ended, Jacobs commented; “It has been […] a monumental marriage of art and commerce. […] one for both the fashion and art history books” .

In 2007, a pop up shop was briefly opened in the Museum of Contemporary art, Los Angeles, to showcase various pieces of commerce from the collab plus a set of prints; screen prints on embossed vinyl.

This work is the ”Monogram (multicolour, white)” variant. Stretched onto a metal stretcher bar. Incised with all the identifying marks as well as hand signed by the artist in black marker.

The work shows very well. There is a bit of scuffing on one corner but it does not detract from the work.

These are from an edition of 100 and are becoming incredibly difficult to find.

With Louis Vuitton & Murakami’s new collaboration we have seen a sharp upswing in demand for these as well as price.

This work is offered at the same price we FALSE a similar work for almost a year ago.

This is an excellent investment work as well as a true marquee piece.
