*"I was in Mexico City hanging my show at Museo Jumex in spring 2024 and I brought my Cherry Blossom paintings to the city and hung them on glass walls so that you could see the city behind them. When I arrived, I was shocked to see the blue jacarandas in full bloom behind my Cherry Blossoms and they looked amazing. It was so good to see pink painted blossoms with a real blue sky and real blue jacaranda trees blossoming behind.*

*The cherry blossoms are so obviously pink and so full of other colours, but the jacarandas are not clearly blue in the same way. They dissolve and shatter in sunlight.*

*I couldn't stop thinking about the blues and how to tackle the blue-on-blue problem, with the blue sky. Everywhere I went I was studying them.*

*I created 'The Emotions' print series with HENI, trying to capture the brilliance and complexity of the blues and the purples, pinks and reds within the jacaranda trees to create that feeling of fleeting colours that you get with jacarandas all over the world.*
