*APC ART is pleased to present STIK’s “HIP,” a hand-signed silkscreen print in colors measuring 56 × 22 cm (22.0 × 8.7 inches), issued in conjunction with the Japanese edition of The Big Issue and signed by the artist in black marker in the lower right margin. This exceptional example has never been folded and presents in pristine condition — an increasingly rare state of preservation for a work originally distributed in a magazine format. The original Japanese Big Issue magazine accompanies the print and is included as provenance, further underscoring the authenticity and historical context of the release.*

*STIK is widely regarded as one of the most important figures to emerge from the post-Banksy generation of British street art. Rising from a background of homelessness in London — where he first began drawing the now-iconic six-line figures as a means of visual communication — his practice has evolved into a globally recognized body of work that bridges public intervention, social activism and contemporary fine art. His murals have become permanent landmarks across London and major cities worldwide, while his editions have achieved remarkable demand among collectors for their immediacy, humanity and cultural relevance.*

*The artist’s work is held in significant public and private collections, and he has collaborated with major institutions and charities in projects that merge art with direct social impact. Much like Keith Haring before him, STIK has developed a visual language that is at once universally accessible and conceptually sophisticated — a distilled human form capable of conveying vulnerability, intimacy, isolation and resilience through the most economical of means.*

*“HIP” is a quintessential example of this visual language. The elongated figure — rendered in the artist’s unmistakable linear vocabulary — stands against a bold, saturated red ground, its posture subtly shifting the emotional register of the composition. With only a tilt of the body and the placement of a single arm, STIK communicates a complete psychological presence. The apparent simplicity is in fact a highly refined exercise in balance, proportion and gesture, demonstrating the artist’s mastery of reduction and his ability to convey profound emotional depth with minimal mark-making.*

*While unsigned examples from this release appear periodically, genuinely hand-signed impressions are exceptionally scarce. The vast majority of works issued with The Big Issue were folded and distributed as magazines; to encounter a flat, unfolded, hand-signed example in this condition — accompanied by the original publication — is extraordinarily difficult and places this work among the most desirable variants from the entire series.*

*The vertical format and intimate scale reinforce the figure’s quiet monumentality, allowing the work to function with the presence of a painting while retaining the immediacy and democratic spirit that defines STIK’s practice.*

*The work is in hand and ready for immediate shipment. APC ART is pleased to advise on museum-quality archival framing options to fully preserve and elevate this rare hand-signed example.*

*A museum-relevant and increasingly difficult-to-source STIK — a powerful, culturally significant and investment-grade acquisition for the most discerning contemporary collections.*
