This work is a screenprint on Arches 300gsm fine art paper, heavily hand-embellished with watercolor, then signed by Dran in the bottom right and hand-numbered from the edition of 99 in the bottom left. Each piece is unique thanks to the artist’s hand finishing. This particular work was acquired at Dran’s 2019 London exhibition, “Dessin du Jour/Londres,” further enhancing its provenance and significance.
Dran (born 1979, Toulouse) is widely respected in the international urban and contemporary art scene. After studying in Toulouse’s fine arts school, he joined the ground-breaking collective Da Mental Vaporz (DMV) in 1999, and has since made a name for himself with striking works that blend graffiti, illustration, drawing, stencil, and painting. His style is often compared to satirical visual storytellers and cartoonists, combining dark humor, elegant simplicity, and sharp social critique.
Unlike many of his editions, this work, “Fauvisme”, is both signed and numbered as well as hand-finished in watercolor—this elevates the work from a simple edition to a unique work , making the piece highly desirable.
