*APC ART is pleased to offer Werner Bronkhorst's “Sprint,” a striking edition published by the artist in 2026. Measuring 29.7 x 42 cm (11.7 x 16.5 in.) unframed and approximately 32.7 x 45 cm (12.9 x 17.7 in.) framed, the work was executed as a museum-quality giclée print on heavyweight 395gsm Canson Infinity PhotoArt ProCanvas using archival Epson pigment inks. Hand signed by the artist and issued from the edition of only 99 examples, the work is professionally hand stretched over FSC-certified New Zealand pine and presented in its original walnut stained float frame. Included with the work is a hand signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity issued by Werner Bronkhorst.*
*Werner Bronkhorst's rise has been nothing short of extraordinary.*
*One of the most exciting young contemporary artists working today, Bronkhorst has built an international following through his instantly recognizable compositions which transform vast landscapes into immersive, almost dreamlike worlds populated by tiny figures navigating enormous environments.*
*Born in South Africa, Bronkhorst has developed a visual language entirely his own. His sold-out exhibitions and highly anticipated releases have attracted a dedicated international collector base. New editions routinely disappear almost immediately upon release and examples that do surface on the secondary market often command significant premiums over their original issue prices.*
*Once acquired, many examples seemingly disappear into private collections for years. As availability decreases, collectors often compete aggressively for the few examples that return to market. It is not uncommon for highly desirable Bronkhorst editions to reach five-figure price points once supply becomes limited.*
*In "Sprint," Bronkhorst presents three runners traversing a monumental crimson landscape. The composition is deceptively simple yet extraordinarily effective. The flowing topography creates a remarkable sense of depth and movement, drawing the viewer into the work and creating the illusion of an entire world beyond the picture plane.*
*As Bronkhorst himself explains:*
*"Three figures run beneath a harsh sun, rendered in burnt red pigment that echoes the intensity of the environment. The composition captures the tension between movement and pressure, effort and atmosphere. The red athletics track becomes both setting and symbol, defined by endurance, routine, and physical strain."*
*- Werner Bronkhorst*
*The quote perfectly illustrates one of Bronkhorst's greatest strengths as an artist. Beneath the beauty of the composition lies a deeper exploration of perseverance, discipline and the human condition. What initially appears to be a minimalist landscape gradually reveals itself as a powerful meditation on endurance and determination.*
*Collectors familiar with Bronkhorst's original paintings will immediately recognize the artist's signature use of scale, perspective and texture. The original painting from which this edition was derived was executed in acrylic and acrylic gel on canvas, with Bronkhorst utilizing layers of material to create the dramatic topography and striking sense of movement that have become hallmarks of his work.*
*The resulting image possesses an almost sculptural quality. The ridges, contours and flowing surface create a truly immersive visual experience that continues to reveal new details with every viewing.*
*Collectors have been drawn to Bronkhorst's ability to create truly three-dimensional environments. Whether depicting runners, cyclists, swimmers, climbers or adventurers, his works explore scale, perseverance and humanity's relationship with the environments we inhabit. The result is a body of work that feels simultaneously contemporary, timeless and universally relatable.*
*Wherever they are displayed, Bronkhorst's works become conversation pieces. The artist's unique visual language, combined with his rapidly expanding international collector base, has established him as one of the strongest emerging names in the contemporary market.*
*Collectors interested in Werner Bronkhorst's work are also encouraged to inquire about the final remaining example from our sold-out Formula One themed Bronkhorst edition, currently available through APC ART. As with many of the artist's most desirable releases, availability is extremely limited.*
