*APC ART is pleased to present an exceptionally rare and highly iconic collaborative work by Shepard Fairey and Ernesto Yerena.*
Titled *“Power & Glory – Day of the Dead”*, this striking image stands as one of the most recognizable and celebrated motifs within Shepard Fairey’s broader OBEY visual language. Drawing from Mexican Día de los Muertos symbolism, sacred geometry, and political iconography, the skull imagery functions as both a celebration of life and a meditation on power, mortality, resistance, and legacy. The ornate symmetry, star-emblazoned eyes, and decorative flourishes immediately recall Fairey’s long-standing fascination with propaganda aesthetics, religious symbolism, and graphic balance, while Ernesto Yerena’s cultural and stylistic influence grounds the work firmly within Chicano and Mexican visual traditions.
Executed as a **hand-pulled silkscreen print on wove paper**, this example is an **extremely rare Printer’s Proof HPM**, numbered **1/2**. *HPM* stands for **Hand Painted Multiple**, indicating that each example was individually hand-enhanced by the artist, making every work from this subset truly unique. Printer’s Proof HPMs are produced in extraordinarily small quantities and are widely regarded as the most desirable versions of any edition due to their scarcity, direct artist involvement, and proximity to the production process.
This work was **published by the artists in 2018** and is notably a **rare, larger format**, measuring approximately **26” x 22”**, offering increased visual impact and presence compared to the standard edition. The piece is **signed and numbered in graphite pencil**, remains in **flawless condition**, and has **never been framed**. It was **gifted directly to the previous owner by the artist**, adding an additional layer of strong provenance.
Shepard Fairey is one of the most influential contemporary artists of the last three decades, whose work exists at the intersection of street art, fine art, activism, and graphic design. From the original *OBEY* campaign to the globally recognized *HOPE* portrait, Fairey’s imagery has shaped the visual language of modern protest and popular culture. Ernesto Yerena, a respected artist and activist in his own right, brings cultural depth and authenticity to this collaboration, reinforcing themes of heritage, resistance, and identity.
From a market and acquisition standpoint, **Printer’s Proof HPMs—particularly collaborations of this caliber—are exceptionally difficult to obtain**, especially in untouched condition. With only **two examples in existence**, this work represents a **museum-level opportunity** and an outstanding investment for the discerning collector.
The work is **in hand** and will **ship immediately from the USA**.
*We are pleased to offer archival framing options.*
